Ka rawe to all of our tamariki who supported the Pink Shirt Day. They definitely helped celebrate diversity, kindness and inclusion with their positive manaakitanga. As a school we were able to raise $305, which will go towards a worthy cause that has yet to be decided.
It has been pleasing to see our tamariki enjoying their Winter Sports. I encourage parents to continue to be positive role models. Sports participation helps build resilience when things do not go the way we expect it to go. Parents play and crucial role in being positive, supportive and encouraging. This enables their children the opportunity to give their best and enjoy the challenge of competing against other schools.
Here are important reminders for whānau:
# Later this term, Learning Journey Reports and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) will be sent home: Whānau are encouraged to keep a close learning connection with their classroom teacher. The more parents are involved, the greater chance children will make progress with their learning. Question for parents: How can you support your child with reading, writing and mathematics? Plan to connect with the teacher early this term to ask how your child is progressing and how you can help at home. Together, we can all support our kids to be the best they can be.
# Attendance: Let’s all keep working hard to ensure our tamariki have regular attendance at school. This means they are at school for nine out of every 10 school days. Secondly, tamariki start school in a positive way when they are ready to learn at 8.45am when the first bell goes. Lateness causes anxiety for them and disruption to the classroom programme.
# Winter Clothing/Change: Please ensure tamariki have suitable clothing for the cold mornings. This must include shoes and socks and a warm jacket that are all named! Whānau should also include spare clothes if they get wet when playing (e.g. spare socks and shorts).
