Stratford Primary School: Year 7-8 Permanent Teacher

Come and join our vibrant team. We are a large, well-resourced Full Primary School with a supportive and collaborative staff. Our kura is a Green-Gold Enviroschool and the recipient of the prestigious Blake Award for Environmental Leadership. As a community, we celebrate diversity and value strong relationships with our ākonga and whānau, placing them at the heart of everything we do.

Our Year 7-8 team works within an exciting new model that enhances team collaboration and support. Teachers in this team are provided additional release time, in-term planning with Bek Galloway, and the support of two Acceleration Teachers who work alongside the four home room teachers.

New teachers are also provided with the opportunity to share their passions by leading one of the Huranga Whānui programmes. Current programmes include Food Technology, Visual Art, Fabric Technology, Digital Animation, Photography, Dance, and Digital Design. As a school, we are open to new ideas that will further enrich learning opportunities for our senior ākonga.

In addition, Year 7-8 teachers are provided with a wide range of quality professional development and leadership opportunities. They are supported to be the best teachers they can be, both personally and professionally. We are part of Taranaki Mohoao, which further strengthens professional learning opportunities for our teachers.

The Board supports teachers who live in New Plymouth by providing access to the school van to reduce travel costs.  Staff who use this service contribute approximately $20 per week.

We are looking for someone who will positively complement our Year 7-8 team culture. If you are solution-focused, have a great sense of humour, enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues and young adolescents, and have a positive outlook, we would love to hear from you. Applicants should also tell us about the unique skills, strengths and talents they can offer our ākonga.
