Today our tamariki got to experience the Americarna Festival. These types of experiences provide authentic learning opportunities for our tamariki to write about. I encourage whānau to chat after school about what they experienced at the Americarna Festival. For example, what was the coolest car? Why was it so cool? What was the loudest car? What kind of noise did it make?

Well done to all our Senior Swimmers who competed in the Turnbull Cup Swimmers Competition on Wednesday night. It was awesome to see so many swimming compete while demonstrating manaakitanga. Congratulations to the Senior Relay Team who won the Turnbull Cup against all the other local schools. Look out for results and photos in next week’s newsletter. 

We wish our Year 5-6 and Year 7-8 ākonga a safe and enjoyable time at camp next week. A huge thank you to staff for organising these camps. We have had tremendous support from whānau who will be attending one of the three camps. Pai rawa (Great effort). 

Weetbix Tryathlon information has been shared with whānau. If you have any questions please contact your classroom teacher. 

Finally, a reminder that local primary schools have a Teachers Only Day on Friday 8 March, which leads into Taranaki Anniversary Weekend. 

Week 5: Monday 26 February to Friday 1 March

  • Monday 26 February: Room 3 and 4 to go Te Wera Camp
  • Wednesday 28 February: Room 1 and 2 go to Te Wera Camp (Room 3-4 return); Room 5, 6, 7 and 8 head off to Vertical Horizons Camp. 
  • Friday 23 February: Assembly at 9.15am (All whānau are welcome to attend); Room 1-2 and Rooms 5, 6, 7 and 8 return from camp.

Week 6: Monday 4 March to Friday 8 March

  • Wednesday 6 March: Yr 1-6 Weetbix Tryathlon
  • Thursday 7 March: Assembly at 9.15am (All whānau are welcome to attend)
  • Friday 8 March: No School – Teachers Only Day.
