Kia ora whānau
Welcome back to another exciting term at Stratford Primary School. School starts on Monday at 8.45am. We are still in the Winter Term so school will finish at 2.35pm for all of Term 3. Here are some quick tips to support whānau to get your tamariki ready for the new term:
- Make sure they are at school before 8.45am. Tamariki will get anxious if they are late for school.
- Dress for the weather: Warm clothing with layers they can take off. Shoes and socks! Warm jackets and hats. This will prevent sickness for your child and other children.
- Name all clothing!
- Phones away policy: Senior tamariki are able to bring a phone to school that is handed into the office every morning. They then collect their phone at the end of the day. Question: Do they need a phone? I noticed many younger tamariki handing in phones last term. Are parents aware their child is bringing their one to school? Phones cannot be used at school.
Welcome to all new whānau: On Monday, we will welcome all new whānau with a Pōwhiri in the school hall. This will be at approximately 10am. Whānau are welcome to stay in class with their tamariki before meeting outside the hall entrance with Mr Elder.
Year 5-6 Day Camp to Topec: At the end of Term 3, the Year 5-6 Team will be building on social and emotional skills as they participate in two days of E.O.T.C activities at Topec, in New Plymouth. We will require parents for the Topec Day Camp. Staff will select parents based on their skills. If you wish to attend, we will be holding Parent Meetings in the first two weeks of Term 3. At these meetings, camp expectations will be shared and parents will complete the Volunteer Forms. Parents must be Police Vetted to attend the Topec Camp. Year 5-6 Camp Meetings: Tuesday 15 July in the Staffroom. There are three times to choose from… 9am, 3pm and 5pm. There will also be three options on Tuesday 22 July at the same times.
Term 3 Parent Interviews: Early next term, we will be holding Parent Interviews. School will finish at 2pm on these days. Information has been shared on the School App. Stratford High School Interviews will also be held at this time for our Year 8 ākonga. They will have two interviews, both of which will be held at Stratford Primary School (One with their classroom teacher and one to enrol at Stratford High School).
- Week 2: Thursday 24 July –> school finishes at 2pm for Parent Interviews.
- Week 3: Thursday 31 July –> school finishes at 2pm for Parent Interviews.
Late Bus Reminder: To support whānau with the earlier finish we offer a ‘Late Bus Class’. This is for whānau who cannot collect their tamariki at 2.35pm due to work commitments. Whaea Aimee (Room 19) will supervise tamariki who are registered for the ‘Late Bus Class’. Tamariki must be registered through the School Office to attend the Late Bus Class.
