Potential NZEI Teachers and Support Staff Strike Day:
When: Thursday 23 October.
What: School will be closed if the Strike Day goes ahead.
When will there be confirmation: The Unions need to give three days warning. We are expecting to know by Monday 20 October.
As we have many teaching and support staff who are NEZI members, school will be closed on this day should the Strike Day go ahead. Please keep informed about this day by regularly reading the School App and/or Facebook page.
School lunches: We have decided there will be no school lunches on Thursday 23 October. Unfortunately, we had to make this decision before knowing the outcome of the Strike day. If there is no Strike, tamariki will need to bring their own packed lunch to school.
No School next Friday (24 October 2025):
As previously advertised, we have a planned Teachers Only Day next Friday. Monday 27 October is also Labour Day so I hope whānau enjoy the extra long weekend. Hopefully the weather improves!
Puanga Festival:
The Puanga Festival is only two weeks away. We have two performance groups attending Puanga this year. Due to the large numbers in the Tuakana Roopu (Year 5-8), the actual performing group has been reduced in size. However, all ākonga will still come on the day and view the performances. We will have our Teina Roopu (Year 1-4) performing in the Non Competitive Section. Puanga will be held at the War Memorial Hall in Waitara.
Key messages for whānau wanting to watch the performances: Come at least 30 minutes before the performance because the doors are shut early. You will also need a gold coin donation. Performing Times:
# Teina Roopu: Wednesday 29 October 2025 at 11.30am. Please be seated by 11.00am
# Tuakana Roopu: Friday 31 October 2025 at 10.15am. Please be seated by 9.45am.
Week 3, Term 4: Monday 20 to Friday 24 October
# Monday 20 October: SENCO IEP Meetings; Dog Safety Talk (Yr 1-2).
# Tuesday 21 October: Learning IEPs; Swimming – Year 1-4.
# Wednesday 22 October: Swimming – Year 5-8; Taranaki Diocesan ākonga will be performing (drama) for the Junior Team.
# Thursday 23 October: NZEI Strike Day – No School (To be confirmed by Monday 20 October).
# Friday 24 October: No school – Teachers Only Day.
Week 4, Term 4: Monday 27 to Friday 31 October
# Monday 27 October: Labour Day – No school.
# Tuesday 28 October: Swimming Starts – Year 1-4.
# Wednesday 29 October: Swimming – Year 5-8; Puanga Festival – Teina Roopu performing at 11.30am (Arrive 30 minutes beforehand with a gold coin donation).
# Thursday 30 October: Targeted transition for some ākonga who are attending SHS in 2026.
# Friday 31 October: Assembly at 9.15am, all whānau are welcome to attend; Puanga Festival – Teina Roopu performing at 10.15am (Arrive 30 minutes beforehand with a gold coin donation).
