Boost Hockey 2024

Back! Bigger! Better!

Boost Hockey prides itself on developing and implementing great programmes at the right level for every participant.

For younger players – the aim of Boost is to have fun in the sun, develop some skills, make some new friends & cool off under the sprinklers.

For older players – we want to grow skills and passion for the game, meeting this group where they’re at, while adhering to Balance is Better principles.

There is seriously a lot going on this year, so grab some popcorn and settle in.

Boost 2024…
Consists of the following options:
# In New Plymouth, options for Years 0 – 13, and back at the NP Turf.
# In Stratford/South Taranaki, options for Years 5 – 13, Stratford Turf
# In Inglewood (and new for ’24) – Years 7 – 13, Inglewood HS.
# GOALIES!!!

Check out the details below: Click here to complete the enrolment form.

For Years 5-8, Year 9+ | Stratford, South Taranaki
Boost Southern is open to any player Year 5 – 13.
The plan is for a Year 5-8 group, and a Year 9 group running at the same time. Each session will be 75min (15min warm-up, 60min on-turf) working through a skill-scenario-game programme each week. If numbers are massive, we’ll split, and add a second start time.
Will run on a Thursday, at Stratford Turfbeginning Thursday 8th Feb. and running to 28th March. Sessions will start at 4.15pm

GOALIES!!!
We’re looking at running a super session for this, with just a bazillion goalies and coaches… (to be honest, we’ll be more reasonable). If you’re child is a goalie, or wants to give it a go, there’s an option to indicate this. We’ll be in touch about when is the best time to get some specific training.

Just like all our Boost Hockey – please contact Andy Bedford or Jason Lyes to discuss any aspects, incl. where your child might fit best.

Please complete ONE digital registration form PER CHILD for the 2024 Boost Summer Hockey programme.

Costs for 2024 are as follows:
Boost wishes to keep costs as low as possible, however due to a rise in turf costs last year, we need to raise our costs to meet these.
Boost Sunday Sessions Years 0 – 2 are $40pp + $20 for a second family member.

All other Boost Sessions Years 3+ are $60pp
Please, please, please korero with us about costs if this is a problem. We don’t want money to be a barrier to sport.

Account Details for payment are at the end of this form, we don’t mind if you can’t pay immediately and will send out reminders closer to getting things underway.

We will again be offering Boost merch, incl. dry-fit Tees, Hoodies, Singlets etc. – Looking at something quite cool in this space – stay tuned! Always no obligations to purchase these.
There will be a separate form for these, we will post this into the Boost Facebook group – www.facebook.com/groups/boosthockeynz

Lastly, please talk with Andy via Facebook, or mobile – 0211319866 – if you’ve got any questions.

Sport is an integral part of school life at Stratford Primary School.  We pride ourselves on having plenty of opportunities for the children both during and outside of classroom time.  Over the winter months the children can be seen representing the school in hockey, netball and basketball.  We then also work closely with the local clubs for the children who wish to play football (soccer) and rugby.

During the school year, there is various tournaments and events run, which we attend including golf days, both girls and boys cricket, rippa rugby and sevens rugby, and the tough guy/girl challenges.  In addition to this, we have various annual sports exchanges as well as our own school swimming, athletics, triathlon and cross country days.

Sport Taranaki have come to our school and offered various programmes over the years, the most recent ones to be implemented being badminton, golf and hockey.  In Term Four, the whole school attend the local covered pool lessons taken by qualified instructors and this is as no additional cost to the parent.

As you can see sport is alive and well at SPS and we are working hard to ensure all levels and abilities are catered for so that everyone can see the enormous benefits sport and being physically active can provide.

Cost for School Sports:
Boards may charge for sports trips or activities that are outside the curriculum, for example school sports teams. Participation in these activities is optional and schools can enforce payment where they have agreed that a child can participate. Any charge should be made clear in advance. It should also be made clear that participation in these types of activities is voluntary. (Source: Donations Scheme FAQs).
