Tahi Wiki (Week 1), Term 3 2022: Next week’s message from Jason Elder
Kia ora Whānau
The SPS Team are looking forward to seeing all our tamariki return to school on Monday. Remember, we are still in Winter Hours. This means school finishes at 2.35pm each day for the whole of Term 3.
We are looking forward to inviting whānau to Friday’s assemblies. We will be holding two assemblies:
– Year 1-4: 9am
– Year 5-8: 9.30am
If we have a large case of illness, we may move the assemblies online (for classes only). However, we will assess this when the need arises. Any changes will be shared with whānau via the weekly message on the School App and School Website.
Being prepared to learn:
Can everyone support our tamariki to be at school by 8.45am. Tamariki also need to wear suitable clothing such as shoes, socks, and winter clothing that keeps our tamariki warm. We are also aiming for 90% attendance from each ākonga this term or only 5 sick days.
Food in Schools Programme:
Stratford Primary School is an Enviro School. We are committed towards sustainable practices, which includes waste minimisation. We are concerned with the increasing waste from leftover lunches. What appears to be happening is that whānau are sending their tamariki to school with a full lunch box even though they are on the Food in School’s Programme. Please can whānau stop doing this or inform the classroom teacher that their tamariki will need to come off the Food in School roll.
This term, tamariki who are on the Food in School Programme will need to bring an empty lunch box to school. Any waste from cold lunches will then go home at the end of the day. In addition to this, if teachers notice tamariki are continuingly not eating their school lunch, whānau will be contacted to take them off the roll.
Sickness:
All tamariki must stay home if they are unwell. For any Covid-19 related cases please contact the Office Staff who will guide whānau through the latest Ministry of Health Guidelines.
Masks:
The Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education are highly recommending that Year 4-8 tamariki wear masks at school over the next four weeks. Stratford Primary School will be taking a pragmatic approach to mask wearing as this is not mandated. Whānau and tamariki in Yr 5-8 can decide if they want to wear a mask at school. We have a supply for tamariki to use over this period of time.
Future Term Dates:
# Monday 25 July: Start of Term 3 at 8.55am (Winter Term continues e.g. School finishes at 2.35pm)
# Thursday 28 July: No Kapa Haka –> starts next week.
# Friday 29 July: Yr 1-2 Assembly in the Hall at 9am; Yr 5-8 Assembly in the Hall at 9.30am. All whānau are welcome to attend. Year 7-8 Technology starts for Term 3.
